Weekend Recap: Lots of Parks & Splashing!

This weekend we took advantage of New York's amazing free parks. Friday afternoon we went to Owl's Head in Bay Ridge to the splash pad. Israel was very content staying in one place while Edith had to explore every inch of the park!

Saturday afternoon we went to Prospect Park in Brooklyn. We started at the Lefrak center where there is a big open splash area. Edith loved exploring but Israel kept being frightened by the sprinklers when they would splash up at him.

We walked around the park for a little while and then found the Imagination Playground which was super cool! Israel loved the splash area and Edith had fun playing "Bo!" aka Peekaboo through the little figures.

There was a little statue on a rock of a boy and a puppy and Israel said "Scared!" for the first time when he saw the puppy, he didn't like it. Edith was obsessed with the little boy and kept trying to swat his hand away, then hold it, and then copy it to touch the puppy.

Sunday I had nursery duty at church. After the kids' naptime we went to McKinley Park in Dyker-Heights, a short walk from our apartment.

We also continued our Sunday afternoon tradition of getting the kids a cookie at the bakery on our block.

One of my favorite things about living in the city is that there are so many awesome parks to go to. I know it will be more complicated when Israel doesn't have the splash pads everywhere, because it keeps him content and in one place.

Sunday night I went to my friend Emily's apartment in Park Slope. She has an amazing view from her rooftop!

It was a perfect ending to a great weekend.
