Edith at Big Girl Camp

Edith has some social anxiety and has always been a mama's girl. It's caused us trouble when we've had to leave her with babysitters, at church nursery, or daycare when she was little.

In September she's going to pre-k full time, and we wanted to find a way to ease her into some structure. For the month of July she went to "big girl camp" on Tuesday and Thursday for a few hours. We made the mistake of hyping it up to her the night before her first day, and she couldn't go to  sleep because she wanted to go to Big Girl Camp RIGHT NOW and not tomorrow. She got to wear a fun green shirt every day and would be so excited when we got out her backpack and lunchbox to go!

I love this little girl!!!

Walking home she would always finish her lunch:

Headed to camp with her crown one day:

After the last day Edith brought home all of her artwork from camp and she was so proud. She's been carrying around her q-tip fireworks art from room to room!

Her teachers had an album online where we were able to see a few pictures of her in the school environment. Her first few days included some tears, but by the end of the month she was much happier at camp. I'm really pleased with our decision to go this route and hopeful that this will help our school transition this fall. No matter what, she's still a little introvert who prefers to be at home, but I know that she will love being at school too. My mom got her a brand new big packpack for her birthday (which she's already received) and she is really proud of it too!

It was definitely weird to be with just Annalise for a few hours, and I was always anxious to get my girl back! I'm thankful for a good experience overall. Here's a little video of Edith walking to camp one day. You can see she is just a fun and silly kid. I'm so thankful for her personality!
