Africa Tote Giveaway!

Thanks for all of your prayers and well-wishes on the craft fair. It was a very fun day!

There are a good bit of leftovers though so I'm trying to figure out the best way to sell/give the items that I still have. First things first, who wants an Africa tote?

If you want one just leave a comment with an idea for a handmade or cheap Christmas gift for this year. I'm brainstorming my options now!

Winner will be chosen on Wednesday, November 10 at 12 Noon EST by random.org. Make sure there is a way for me to email you, because the winner gets to pick which one of the 3 fabric options that are in the picture :)

It was actually the first thing I learned to sew, because I needed to start with something easy!

  8. so, we did not do this for Christmas, but did it as a fundraiser and now I have tons of friends borrowing my stuff to use it for Christmas presents:). We made homemade soaps - hobby lobby for dyes, and an line store for the glycerin and scents. In all, we made (after costs) over 1000!!! almost enough for a plane ticket:) It is extremely easy and fun to do, and I will probably never buy soap again!!! if you are interested in doing it, email me and I will tell you all about it and were to get the stuff!

  9. I'd love a tote. My craft idea is to buy styrofoam balls, using a butter knife, stuff the edges of quilt squares into the ball and in the end it looks like a quilted Christmas ornament. You can stuff a piece of ribbon into the top w/ a pin and then hang it from the ribbon. Make sense? It's easy and cheap!

  10. You can make pictures frames really easily. You can use cardstock, scrapbook paper, all kinds of embellishments...or wood and paint. Easy and cheap. And you can personalize them with meaningful photos.

  11. You can giveaway our Handmade-soaps and teddy-bears for Christmas :)

One thing that we always did was buy clear glass ornaments and squirt paint into them and swirl it around til it gets the marbled look you want (We may have put something else in it, don't remember), they were always very fun. We also took double stick tape and did a design on them and then rolled them in glitter. (or use some spray glue, give the inside of the ornament a spritz and then put glitter in and shake it all up :)

One thing we want to do is buy some Ethiopian Coffee beans and fill the ornament, then maybe put a design of Africa or Ethiopia or the kids names (which we probably wont know yet)I just think it will be a nice reminder of the little people who will be celebrating Christmas with us next year

  13. We like to buy the cheap canvas' at Hobby Lobby at half off and let the kids paint them for grandparents or I will paint one for a friend. I like to coordinate one for a special room that will go with their color schemes.

  17. Love your cute totes!
a couple of years ago, I got some wood and cut it and painted it black and scuffed it up really good to make it look old. I chose a different verse for each one (maybe a verse that reminded me of that person) and painted it in gold paint. Then, I just put that little hook on the back to hang it up on the wall. They turned out great, and it was easy!

  20. My fav gifts from a few years ago were homemade luggage tags. I made the tags in Publisher/Word, printed them, laminate them (bought sleeves made for this, borrowed a laminator), and added big fun ribbons so that they would stand out at baggage claim! They were a hit!

I'm going to put up a post about homemade notepads from leftover construction paper on my blog later this month.

  21. Last year I decorated picture frames with similiar pictures of my niece and nephew in the dishwasher for my sister-in-law. Yes, I said in...they used to sit on the open door and hand us dishes as we'd put them away:) I also made coaster for my mom but I put a picture of each one of us on them...I'm pretty sure she hung them though. This year I'm knitting my newest niece a baby blanket and making some amazing jewelry!

Also, let me know if and when you have bags for sell, I'd love to get a couple!!!
