Brings Me Tears

Faces of Adoption from Videos for AGCI on Vimeo.

This picture was drawn on Facebook almost three years ago. Bekah and I went on a trip to Disney World with my parents, and at the time, we thought taking someone's child for a photo-op would be fun. Instead, I think I uncovered my gift of prophecy... You be the judge.

Adoption Aprons

Our friends from Alabama, the Taylors, recently announced that they are adopting from Uganda through Lifeline Adoption. They have two incredibly adorable boys and both the mom & dad are incredible social workers. You can read their blog here.

Want to help them out? Got a present to buy for someone? Well, Sarah made some impressive "adoption aprons" that could be yours! Check out their etsy site:

Happy Gotcha Day Isaiah!!

Last Monday was the Fleming's "Gotcha Day" with Isaiah, but we actually got to meet him at the airport on January 16, 2010.

We owe a lot to the Flemings (although they are way too humble to admit it). They were in our small group when they started (and completed) their adoption process with Isaiah. Soon after, we knew that we felt the same call to Ethiopian adoption and we have needed their advice and encouragement along the way.

In addition to being great parents to Isaiah, they have been leaders of the Orphan Care ministry at our church, and have walked beside many families who have considered adoption. At every adoption yard sale in our area, Heather is up at dawn organizing and selling goods to help bring home babies. And if that weren't enough, every person at our church that has seen little Isaiah must have baby envy, because he is absolutely precious. I'm sure people are interested in adoption just after seeing him! Will and I joke that we have high standards because Isaiah is not only cute but he has such a fun personality.

I hope you enjoy their sweet Gotcha Day video. It has been a blessing to watch God's faithfulness in their lives and to see the way they pour their blessings out to others.

It's ok, we all do it...

I was just informed by my friend Leigh that today is "National Delurking Day" which is a quite hilarious concept to me. So what this means is that blog readers should go ahead and "follow" the blogs they read, post comments, and make themselves known.

Afterall, I think we are allll silent stalkers. Yep, I sure am. Have you ever seen someone in Wal-Mart, wondering how their family vacation went, only to realize you don't actually know that person? Or ever be in your hometown, and wave to a person on the street because thats your friend, but really that person doesn't know you, you just read her blog?

It's easy to blog hop.  To bookmark a page without "following" or to read something without acknowledging it. And while I don't think there's harm in it, I encourage us to step out and be real. Let me know who you are, where you're from and I'd love to get to know you. Even if you have never met me or if you think it's weird to say hi. I tried to do a little "quiz" a few months ago to get to know you, but didn't get the response I was expecting considering I only got a small number of replies for the number of people that stop by each day. So now's the chance for redemption, a new year where we can boldly stalk get to know each other in this weird and overly detailed internet world.

And here is my "introductions" page if you are new around here want to know a little more about our story too :)

Amazing Story

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he shall not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

We may not have much in terms of baby stuff yet, but we are focusing on quality over quantity at this point...

Official January Numbers!

It is a new month, and new numbers! We are thankful for a little bit of movement this month!

For the girls list, we are:

And on the boys list, we are:

And there have been many families in Ethiopia picking up their babies in the last few weeks, so hopefully we will see lots more babies have forever families soon!

This last month we moved 6 spots for girls, and 3 spots for boys. Overall, we have moved 39 spots for girls, and 24 spots for boys since getting on the waitlist in July. Although at times this wait has dragged on, it is nice to look at the bigger picture during the process and see that God is moving in a big way!

"Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God,we do not lose heart.... For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,  as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4: 1, 15-18

Praise Him who renews us each day of this journey!

Created for Care: Tshirts & Transportation?

Hey adoptive mamas! Are you going to the Created For Care retreat this February? I am!!! and I am SOOO excited that it is quickly approaching!

Two things:

1. T-shirts. The planning folks for the retreat created the CUTEST t-shirt, and even if you aren't going I know you'll want this shirt!

You can purchase or share the link for the tees here:  The shirts run small--so I recommend ordering up at least 1 size for a fitted tee and 2 sizes if you like it more comfortable with room.

2. Transportation for the Retreat. I'm in Raleigh, NC and contemplating driving or flying down to the retreat. Anybody local-ish want to ride together?  If so email me yestoadoption (at) gmail (dot) com.

Can't wait for the retreat to come! And to FINALLY meet you ladies that I feel like I already know!
